How our textbook lines up against the UKMLA syllabus
The General Medical Council publishes the MLA content map, the official syllabus for the UK Medical Licensing Assessment. Appendix A of that map lists 429 core conditions across 24 body systems. This page maps every one of those conditions against our textbook, and shows the gaps as plainly as the coverage.
Of the 429 conditions listed, 327 have a textbook page and 80 are planned but not yet written. A further 22 are presentations, processes or admin topics that do not fit a condition page (explained below). That is 80% of in-scope conditions covered today.

What “out of scope” means
Some entries in the content map are presentations, resuscitation algorithms, screening programmes, laboratory skills or administrative topics rather than conditions with a mechanism, a set of investigations and a treatment. Cardiac arrest, shock, acid-base abnormality and disease prevention are examples. These are taught elsewhere in the course rather than as a condition page, so we mark them out of scope rather than counting them as gaps.
How this page is built
Every entry above is matched from Appendix A of the GMC MLA content map (published October 2025, applicable from September 2026) against our published condition pages. Umbrella entries, such as “Leukaemia” or “Tachyarrhythmias”, count as covered when the group of pages behind them exists. The figures are regenerated from the source, so they stay honest as the textbook grows. Planned items are shown for what they are: not yet covered.
